CL:L for Rectangles and Frames
CL:L can show corners, cards, rectangles, picture frames, and some tool-like shapes.

Learn It
Start with the simple version, then practice it with real signs.
CL:L uses the thumb and index finger at a right angle. It can show a corner, a rectangular object, or a frame.
Use it after naming things like PICTURE, CARD, ENVELOPE, MIRROR, or FRAME.
The way you place and turn the L handshape can show where the rectangle is and how it faces.
Try It
Practice slowly. Make the classifier movement clear and keep the location steady.
- Sign PICTURE, then use CL:L to place a picture on the wall.
- Sign CARD, then use CL:L to show a card lying flat on a table.
- Use two CL:L hands to outline the corners of a frame.
Simple Examples
Read the ASL line first. A dark green pill explains the classifier movement, not an extra sign.

Do not use CL:L when a simpler flat surface is the main point. CL:B may be better for broad flat surfaces.
A little more grammar
CL:L is especially helpful when the edge, corner, or facing direction matters. It gives more shape detail than a plain flat hand.
